The Collado Family

Thankfully, our visits so far have all been brief, but almost a year later, we aren’t terrified of coming to the city. We aren’t nervous to check into The House. Instead, we are truly happy to know we have somewhere safe and affordable to stay while we focus on Benjamin’s care.

“The first time we ever visited Saskatoon was when our son needed to go to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital (JPCH). We didn’t know where anything was, where we would stay, or what to expect. Everything felt uncertain and overwhelming.

Then, we found the Ronald McDonald House. From the moment we arrived, we were met with warmth, kindness, and understanding. It was more than just a place to stay—it became a lifeline. Being four hours from home, trying to navigate the city and the hospital was daunting. Before Benjamin was born, we had moved from Ontario to Saskatchewan, leaving us without family nearby to support us. But at RMH, we found something special: a community that truly cares.

It has been, and continues to be, a big help to our family to know we have somewhere to stay whenever Benjamin needs care. The support goes beyond just a roof over our heads. When we have good appointments, there is always someone there to celebrate with us. When we have difficult ones, there is always someone ready to listen. The staff and volunteers at RMH remember Benjamin every time we visit, and that small act of kindness makes a world of difference.

Thankfully, our visits so far have all been brief, but almost a year later, we aren’t terrified of coming to the city. We aren’t nervous to check into The House. Instead, we are truly happy to know we have somewhere safe and affordable to stay while we focus on Benjamin’s care.

We have always “rounded up” when we’ve visited McDonald’s or made sure to get McDonald’s for dinner during McHappy Day because you never know the impact it has on families. We just never expected that family to be ours. Now, having experienced firsthand what RMH provides, we are even more grateful for every small act of generosity that helps families like ours when they need it most. The

Ronald McDonald House has given us more than a place to stay—it has given us comfort, understanding, and a sense of belonging during some of our most challenging moments. We are forever grateful.”
