Recycling Team Member

As a member of the Recycling Team, you play a significant role in creating a warm and welcoming environment for our families, as well as helping us fulfill our desire to be environmentally responsible. Under the direction of the Facility Coordinator, you are responsible for the collection, sorting, and delivery of recycled goods to the appropriate facilities, as well as returning any monetary refunds to our Finance Office. We value teamwork and collaboration and we are grateful that you are a part of the Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan Team!

Responsibilities:

  • Be willing to complete recycling tasks as directed by the Facility Coordinator. Tasks would include:
    • Commit to a regular weekly schedule and communicate availability changes to the Facility Coordinator
    • Collecting bottles, cans and other recyclable items from RMH Recycling Room and Bins
    • Appropriately sorting recyclable goods 
    • Delivering recyclables to the SARCAN location in Sutherland
    • Returning any monetary refunds to our Finance Office
    • Valid Driver’s license
    • This role requires the volunteer to have a vehicle appropriate to transport recyclable goods, and when available will use the House van to transport recycling to SARCAN.
  • Adhere to all RMHC-SK Procedures, Protocols and Policies

Necessary Skills 

  • The willingness to get your hands dirty! (This can be a sticky job!)
  • Physically capable – some of the work can be physically demanding.
  • A friendly and enthusiastic demeanor, as you act as an ambassador of Ronald McDonald House in the community.

Training and Support 

  • General orientation and training will be provided 
  • Role specific training will be provided
  • Continuing training and support will be offered to all volunteers.

Time Commitment:

  • 1 shift per week for a commitment of 8 months to a year
  • 2-3 hours per shift

Parking: 

We recognize that parking is a challenge in our community. We would recommend, if possible, that you walk, bike, bus, or get dropped off. If you must drive, we request the following:

  • For visits to the House 2 hours or less, please park on University Drive west of Clarence Ave.
  • For visits two hours or longer, park in the ONE volunteer parking space in the lot (if open). Alternatively, you can park in a family parking space in the lot if there is one available. If you are parking in the lot, you MUST register with the front desk to ensure we are able to contact you while on your volunteer shift in case of needing to move your vehicle for emergency. Unregistered vehicles may be towed.
