House Decor Volunteer

As a member of the House Décor Team, you play a significant role in creating the warm, comfortable and safe experience that families and children have at Ronald McDonald House. Under the direction of the Family Services & Programs Manager and Director of Operations, you will assist with the overall decorating needs of all living spaces in the House to ensure these areas are comfortable and welcoming for the families.  We value teamwork and collaboration and we are grateful that you are a part of the Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan Team!

Qualifications:

  • Ability to deal with the public in a warm and friendly manner
  • Good organization skills
  • Enjoys decorating and has an eye for colour, style, scale, balance, etc. 
  • Comfortable with decision making and problem solving
  • Understand and practice confidentiality
  • Willing to share your time and energy 
  • Dependable – must commit to a regular schedule
  • Possess qualities of friendliness, dependability, tact and flexibility
  • Initiative; able to work independently
  • Able to pass a background check

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all family spaces are organized and welcoming
  • Rearrange furniture and decor to ensure family comfort 
  • Redecorate or update decor where needed and in agreement with Family Services & Programs Manager and/or Director of Operations
  • Consult with Director of Operations &/or CEO as to any ideas, changes or purchases
  • Work within budget as set by Family Services & Programs Manager and/or Director or Operations 
  • Purchase décor/furniture as needed and in agreement with Director of Operations &/or CEO
  • Adhere to all RMHC-SK Protocols & Procedures

Training and Support 

  • General orientation and training will be provided 
  • Role specific training will be provided
  • Continuing training and support will be offered to all volunteers. 

Time Commitment:

  • 1 shift per week for a commitment of 8 months to a year
  • Or a bi-weekly shift when applicable
  • Shift times vary from 2 – 4 hours depending on opportunity

Parking: 

We recognize that parking is a challenge in our community. We would recommend, if possible, that you walk, bike, bus, or get dropped off. If you must drive, we request the following:

  • For visits to the House 2 hours or less, please park on University Drive west of Clarence Ave.

For visits two hours or longer, park in the ONE volunteer parking space in the lot (if open). Alternatively, you can park in a family parking space in the lot if there is one available. If you are parking in the lot, you MUST register with the front desk to ensure we are able to contact you while on your volunteer shift in case of needing to move your vehicle for emergency. Unregistered vehicles may be towed.
